Travel quickies w/ Hansi

Chinatown Milan (not our destination)

We’re going on a travel today. We is us and us is a family of five including three persons who can either not walk (yet), not talk properly (yet) or freak out regularly (up til now and yes, it’s me if you wonder). But that’s not an issue. My problem is gear.

Two years ago I would have packed a Leica M6 and 296 rolls of film of which I would have brought back around 280 unexposed and the rest either over or underexposed.

But for this trip I’m going digital and now the shit show starts. Have you ever had a digital camera with interchangeable lenses? Nobody uses a zoom lens on a Canon A1 - simple. But on an X-T5? Maybe?! So I bought an 70-300mm zoom lens to add to my kit because I might wanna photograph a closeup of the toe of a flamingo in a zoo from outside the perimeter fence. If we even go to a zoo, what do I know…Real first world problems, that’s for sure.

I also bought 10 new SD cards. My whole Lightroom library as raw files fits on these ten cards. What is wrong with me?

Then about three weeks ago I had a nightmare, that my X-T5 died on me while I took that photograph of the flamingo. “What about redundancy” I said aloud when I woke up soaked in sweat. “I’m gonna have to take a second camera” I continued to mumble in the middle of the night.

I have also bought a tripod. I didn’t do a proper research when ordering the world’s tiniest travel tripod. Matter of fact it’s so small, it will not hold my camera with the zoom lens when photographing that flamingo`s god damn toe.

Anyway. I keep you posted.
