Travel quickies w/ Hansi pt. 3

I don’t know what to say about Hongkong. I’ve literally seen it for only a few hours on a guided walking tour. That is nothing but a first impression that’s for sure.

The bus stopped somewhere on Hongkong Island and all I saw outside the windows was people, cars and once we got off the bus the city absorbed us.

As the bus drove away I panicked for a second because I thought I forgot the camera in the bus, then, when I finished unfolding the stroller I couldn’t find my wife while my kids were patiently waiting in front of a corner store and I had another panic attack about how I was supposed to raise three kids without her. I mean seriously who takes an aspiring plus size model with three kids. “I’ll die alone“ I thought but then we were all back together in the busy streets of Hongkong.

So picture us with two kids in a double seated stroller, one kid in a carrier and me with a rucksack full of diapers, sugared treats and the worlds tiniest travel tripod surrounded by a group of grumpy German retirees in their open toe sandals and checkered shorts.

I have to cut it short a bit here. It all calmed down because of of my beloved wife. When she’s chilled, I am too. I could take about 100 photos of which every single shot looked absolutely amazing through the view finder. Things change when you’ve imported them to your computer. 50 turned out as garbage, at least 25 were pure shit and the remaining 25 are a good mix of nice snapshots and portfolio work.

The tour included a ticket to Victoria peak and I can only recommend people to do that even though it’s the standard tourist thing. But these days I am a standard tourist anyway. A thin layer of fog formed around  the skyscrapers around blue hour and created a nice and scenic opportunity for some great photos. These are definitely the best from our short stay in Hongkong.

At the beginning of the tour our guide - a Hongkong Chinese woman who was tremendously nervous - warned us that this isn’t walking tour and we all gonna die or at least get lost. Well, we lost some retirees on our way but they were old anyway.

One last thing. When we had only two kids we bought a double seated stroller where the seats line up behind and not in parallel. This makes this vehicle incredibly versatile and I can proudly say that this cheap ass MF is probably the best travel Gadget to pass through the narrowest streets or supermarket aisles while at the same time it folds together almost as small as the worlds tiniest travel tripod - not used yet by the way. Cheers from abroad.
