What’s happening?

This blog post was planned handling a different topic but the world keeps changing with a vengeance and at unknown pace. It is day seven that Russia attacked Ukraine and started an unnecessary but somehow foreseeable war.

As the smallest dicks keep fucking the world, social media is full of opinions, false information, never ending “what-about-isms“ as well as helping hands and people that want to do something.

Some chose to just continue like nothing ever happened, no statements, captions or anything; others chose to stop posting out of respect and some say that it is crucial to continue because art will prevail (if you think that half of a Mercedes Benz shot on Portra is art, that’s fine for me) - each to their own.

I personally, being just an amateur photographer, find it very difficult to give creativity a space in my head while there is a war going on, bad news keep flooding my feeds or to be more precise: A metro station is interesting as long as it is just a photo shot on Cinestill, but once you are trapped in the underground, seeking shelter because MiG 29 jets raze your whole city to the ground, it changes at least my perception somehow. I’ve seen so many of these posts like nothing happened in the last week and only my very good friend Jess (@girlgoneanalogue) wrote a smart and sensible caption for her photo and guess what? The reaction she got was zero and I find that fucking scary.

Let` s be honest: No matter what you chose to do on your own social media profiles, the few things that might help throughout these unprecedented times, they all take place in real life. Real donations, real helping hands, real talk, real accommodations, etc.

Do what you feel on social media but show respect to those who chose to deal with this difficult situation differently.

Be sensible.
